Within this lush landscape, are freshly remodeled guest rooms and suites, a completely redesigned Cascades lobby, stylish and contemporary new restaurants, unique shopping experiences, and a 20,000-square-foot spa and fitness center.

A tour of the Fontanel Mansion upon arrival in Nashville, gives you an inside look at the home of country music’s Barbara Mandrell and her husband Ken Dudney.  Built in 1988 it was her primary home for years and acted as a getaway for countless country music stars.  Following your included lunch at the Farm House Restaurant at Fontanel, will be a visit to the Upper Room Christian Art Museum.  The museum exhibits The Night of the Child, a collection of over one hundred nativity scenes, renditions from papier-mâché to exquisite porcelains, carved wood and stone to natural dried seed pods all representing over thirty cultures around the world.

Our late afternoon check-in at the Gaylord will give you some free time to explore this grand hotel prior to your included dinner.  The Grand Ole Opry House is host to The Radio City Christmas Spectacular® featuring all new scenes, new costumes, new sets and an unforgettable new finale called "Christmas Dreams" that make Christmas more magical than ever before! Marvel at the incredible precision dancing of The Rockettes in beloved scenes like the legendary "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and the stunning reenactment of the first Christmas in the "Living Nativity." If you've never seen the Spectacular before, this is DEFINITELY the year to go!

The next morning you will have tickets to Holly Jolly Town Square and Treasure For The Holidays; two Gaylord attractions that you can visit at your leisure. At Holly Jolly Town Square step back in time to a nostalgic 1950s town square, complete with all the shops from main street, a holiday kids train, story time with Mrs. Claus at the library, live entertainment and more!  And at Treasure For The Holidays – this festive craft and gift show features more than forty unique merchants from across the country.  Enjoy a one-of-a-kind Christmas cruise down the Cumberland River aboard the beautiful General Jackson Showboat—one of the largest showboats in the country. Fun-filled performances, chef-prepared meals and sweeping views of the Nashville skyline await you on your luncheon cruise.

In 2011, Gaylord Opryland's popular ICE! event returned with an all-new theme! The ICE! artisans created DreamWorks Animation's Merry Madagascar in the form of two million pounds of larger-than-life colorful ice sculptures and incredible twenty-foot-tall ice slides! ICE! is hand carved by forty artisans from Harbin China. ICE!—which is sponsored by Delta Dental—is bigger than ever in the new 40,000-square-foot Gaylord Opryland Events Center. Your ticket includes an exciting new pre-show experience where you can get a behind-the-scenes look at how ICE! is created.

Lorrie Morgan grew up the daughter of Grand Ole Opry star George Morgan. She spent many nights backstage at the Opry and made her debut there at thirteen. Her father died when she was sixteen, and she was singing professionally a year later. By twenty-one, she was opening shows for George Jones. She performed at Opryland USA, sang demo sessions for country publishing giant Acuff-Rose and became a member of the Opry in 1985.  Lorrie has created an awe-inspiring show for the holiday season at Gaylord Opryland! Get ready for an evening of non-stop excitement that includes a traditional holiday meal with all the trimmings, topped off by sensational multi-talented performances by Lorrie and her band.

We won’t check out until 11:00 am giving you the opportunity to sleep in, take time for some “retail therapy” at Amelia’s Boutique, Bushels & Baskets, Cowboys & Angels or any of the other numerous specialty shops, or if you haven’t visited Holly Jolly Town Square or Treasure for the Holidays – now would be a perfect time to take in the magic of Christmas, or just wander through the three atria, enjoying the waterfalls, exotic plants, and Christmas animatronic displays.
